Students must plan ahead
for summer school by reserving funds to cover these expenses.If you borrow the maximum loan amounts based on your grade
level during the 2009-2010 academic year, you will not have loan
funds available to cover summer school expenses.Visit

Stafford loans, Parent PLUS
Loans or private loans are generally the only types of aid available
for summer school. If you used a partial federal Pell Grant during
the 2009-10 academic year due to part time enrollment, or if you
were enrolled for only one semester or have progressed a grade
level, you may be eligible to receive a Pell grant for your summer
enrollment.
If you need funds for
summer school and have remaining eligibility, you will need to
complete a separate UNC Charlotte summer financial aid application
and the 2009-10 FAFSA. Go
to www.fafsa.ed.govto complete the 2009-10 FAFSA
form.Make sure UNC
Charlotte’s school code (002975)
is listed on the FAFSA.
The summer school application will be available online as well as in
the Office of Student Financial Aid in mid April for the upcoming
summer, and must be completed within the specified deadlines each
year.
Undergraduate students must
be enrolled for a total
of at least 6 hours in the summer to receive a Stafford Loan.
Graduate students must be enrolled for a
total of at least 3
credit hours in the summer to receive a Stafford Loan.Your summer financial aid award is based on the total number
of registered hours. If you change summer session terms of
enrollment or reduce the total number of enrolled hours due to
dropping or cancellation of classes, your award will be reduced
accordingly or possibly cancelled.
To be considered
for summer financial aid, you must:
Have a 2009-10 Free Federal
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file
at UNC Charlotte
Be a UNC Charlotte student
enrolled in an approved degree or eligible
certificate program (visiting and post bacc students
are not eligible for financial aid)
Submit a summer school
application to the Office of Student Financial Aid
within the designated deadlines
Finalize summer school
registration prior to submitting your summer school
application
Meet the Satisfactory Academic
Progress (SAP) policy requirement at the end of the
spring 2010 semester.Please go to

Be in good academic standing.At the end of the spring 2010 semester, if
you are academically suspended, you are not eligible
for summer financial aid
Undergraduate Students
If you enroll for
both5-week summer sessions
and are enrolled less than 6 credit hours during the
first 5-week summer session,
your federal Stafford Loan will notbe disbursed to
your student account until your first 5-week summer session is
completed and you begin the
second 5-week summer
session enrolled in enough credit hours to total a minimum of 6
credit hours for both terms.
Review and processing of summer financial aid applications takes a
minimum of 3 weeks.
Typically, the only types of financial aid available for summer
school are:
Federal Stafford Loans
Federal Parent PLUS Loans
Any remaining Pell Grant eligibility not used during the fall
and spring semesters
